The core skill of a leader - delegation - must be learned quickly and employed as soon as responsibility for a work group has been received. This skill helps ensure that employees participate in the process of growing and developing both unit performance and cohesion between corporate goals and unit performance requirements.

• To use trust rather than micro-managing to get the required task completed at the required performance level
• Hi-tech tools to monitor the delegation process
• How to conduct “post mortems” to review task performance against required performance and use the review as a learning tool for employees
